Free Summer Fun at the Saints Staycation Events

Every Wednesday from the 22nd July to the 26th August, in partnership with YWAM The Kings Lodge, the Saints team ran free family events outside the building.

The activities on offer at the Saints Staycation events differed from week to week, but the aim was the same – offering a free, fun and safe family outing during a challenging time. Children engaged in a variety of activities, from a bouncy castle, to decorating your own biscuit, from making sushi to chalk street art, circus skills, football, puppet shows and even drumming! The majority of activities happened outdoors in the summer sun, and all were socially distanced (right down to individual ‘biscuit decorating kits’ for each child!).

During these events, the Saints team were also able to give away free frozen meal hampers, made from food produced by ‘Your Farmer’, to anyone in the town centre who wanted one, with the aim of showing love to the town, and giving a boost to anyone who needed it.

The events were thoroughly enjoyed and well attended by adults and children alike, and there was a joyful atmosphere in the street as children played safely, accompanied often by a live band playing fun, upbeat music.
