Summer Staycation 2021
From Thursday 5th August to Wednesday 1st September, in partnership with our friends at YWAM the Kings Lodge, we ran a free programme of food and fun for the whole family to enjoy!
With funding obtained through Warwickshire County Council's 'Holiday Activities and Food (HAF)' Programme, we were able to run the Staycation for four days a week, with a focus on supporting local families who would normally receive free school meals during term time. Wednesdays and Fridays were located here at Saints in the town centre, and Tuesdays and Thursdays were over at the incredible Kings Lodge, with 13 acres of green space.
Free lunch for every family
As part of our Staycation events, we were thrilled to be able to offer free lunch to both children and parents, as well as healthy snacks throughout the day - including some the whole family could get involved in making! Snacks included smoothies, fruit kebabs, milkshakes, rainbow pizzas and more.
Getting moving with sports and outdoor games
As part of our events we wanted to give children the opportunity to get moving in a fun way. We had plenty of inflatables, team sports, active zones with skipping and hooping challenges, and lots of outdoor games.
Getting creative with craft activities
Across the weeks we had different creative activities on offer, giving opportunity for the whole family to get involved in making.
Unique Experiences
We were eager to provide experiences that were memorable, exciting and educational for the children. We organised a variety of workshops and experiences, from mobile animal farms, exotic animals and petting experiences, to mad science sessions and music workshops.
Inclusivity
We were keen to ensure our events could be accessed by every family - we created a special chill out zone with sensory play, had noise reducing headphones on offer, and a range of activities to suit all ages and abilities.
