Meet Heather and Hannah…
Heather is a Saints volunteer who supports Saints running creative activities and groups. Hannah works for Saints developing our community projects and initiatives. Both love to knit and crochet!
Last year we gave away countless blankets to those struggling to heat their homes. We still have plenty to give, so this year we are making hats, scarves and kids Christmas stockings!
This year, Heather and Hannah want to raise money for our Christmas in a Box programme, a project where we give Christmas Hampers filled with festive joy to households in need. Last year we gave out 25, with recipients ranging from care leavers, to elderly people, to families struggling to make ends meet.
What’s the challenge?
Heather and Hannah won’t be attempting to smash world records any time soon (the longest time spent crocheting is currently 34 hours and 7 minutes!) but they did want to take on a challenge to raise funds towards bringing joy to people this christmas.
From 2pm on Friday 1st November to 2pm on Saturday 2nd November Heather and Hannah will be attempting to knit/crochet hats, scarves and Christmas stockings for 24 hours (with bathroom breaks of course!). This challenge has two purposes - to try and make as many hats, scarves and stockings as possible to bless people with and to raise money through sponsorship/donations to put towards Christmas in a Box.
How you can get involved
Join in!
If you knit or crochet, we would love for you to join us, even if just for an hour or two. We'll be open for people to come and join them from 2-8pm on the Friday and from 9am-2pm on the Saturday! But you are also welcome to join us during the 24 hours from home or somewhere else. Please drop us an email to sign up.
Sponsor/Donate
As well as trying to make as many items to give away as possible, we are hoping to raise money to put towards Christmas in a Box this year. See further down the page for how you can sponsor Heather and Hannah, or make a direct donation now.
Give supplies
If you have any clean blankets in good condition that you are looking to get rid of, we would gladly accept them to add to our stock to give away. We are also accepting donations of wool and already knitted/crocheted squares that we can sew together.
Donate to the cause
If you would like to donate towards Christmas in a Box this year, you can do so through the button below. Please specify in the blank text box on the donation form that you would like your donation to be directed towards Christmas in a Box!
